What is the output of:
$ lsmod | grep snd
> -- Configuration Files:
> /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base-blacklist.conf [Errno 2] No such file or
> directory: u'/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base-blacklist.conf'
It seems that alsa-base isn't installed properly. Do as root:
# dpkg --purge --force-all alsa-base
# apt-get install alsa-base
and send the output of
$ ls -al /etc/modprobe.d/
The path to source is always uphill!
