What is the output of:
$ lsmod | grep snd
?
[...]

It seems that alsa-base isn't installed properly. Do as root:
# dpkg --purge --force-all alsa-base
# apt-get install alsa-base
and send the output of
$ ls -al /etc/modprobe.d/
