could you provide a backtrace from the new version, and if possible the
relevant part of your configuration and the exact steps to reproduce the
crash?

I've never encountered bacula-sd crashing when the fd wasn't reachable,
and actually it shouldn't be possible, because the director calls the
fd, then the fd calls the sd, so if the fd isn't reachable the sd is
never called? Here is a diagram:
