No, because gbp buildpackage --git-no-pristine-tar works with just the
upstream git branch, as long as the correct tag is present.
Without the tag, something like this is necessary:
gbp buildpackage --git-ignore-new --git-arch=amd64 --git-dist=sid
--git-no-pristine-tar --git-no-pristine-tar-commit
--git-upstream-tree=514cffffdcb625936ce8d781fbd02b5da4527e41
