It seems my first mail was lost due to Thunderbird crashing.

Short version:

The Warning would only seen during interactive upgrades. Also: doesn't 
policy forbig warning only messages, unless in an emergency situation?

I think those junk files are our responsibility, we should deal with them 
automatically.

But the time window in which they were created is very small, so leaving 
them be could also be fine.

But the version in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is also affected, it would be nice to 
have a solution for them, IMvHO.
