Elaborating on that further: AFAIR XPM was used in Debian in the earlier
source formats, because there was no way to ship binaries, just
text-based patches, resulting in either ugly uuencode hacks or XPM
files, both being text based.

But now we can ship binaries inside debian.tar.xz, so I see no need to
use a XPM image.

A SVG would even be better, but my conversion attempts where not
successful, most converters just convert the XPM to PNG and put this
inside an inline image into the SVG instead of tracing the image to
native vectors.
