[pkg-bacula-devel] Bacula and MariaDB 10.3

Hi!

Quick heads up:

MariaDB 10.3 just entered Unstable and we know from discussions on the
upstream Bacula lists that is not officially supported by Bacula at this
time.

Kern made some database changes with 9.2.2 which should alleviate those
known problems, but we need to be aware there may be other problems
unknown as of yet.

We may need to either ship a configuration file fragment for MariaDB to
change some global settings and/or provide a NEWS entry alerting users
to the fact they may need to do it themselves for remote DB setup.

But this should not delay our upload of 9.4.0, because if Bacula breaks
with MariaDB 10.3, *all* versions will be broken, but there is a chance
the newer versions will be *less* broken. Hopefully.

Grüße,
Sven.
