attached 007 patch deals with this issue in a rather nifty way ;)

Also, it occurred to me that each component of the package is being
built twice (i.e. total 4 calls to configure/make). I'm not sure I
really understand why this is happening, but it clearly has a
significant impact on package's total build time...
