However, this patches the installed init script, not the source ...

... and this change is in the ucf_upgrade_check function, which
is not used by the init script at all ...

... but your using systemd anyway.

So I'm wondering why you created this patch.

Nonetheless, the ucf_upgrade_check is used in the maintainer scripts,
so I applied the change anyway, as it seems the correct thing to do.
