I'm currently packaging gstreamer-java too (another java dependency of
Datasoul), so I'm getting familiar with java packaging. For
gstreamer-java I have already created lintian-clean packages and
uploaded to mentors.debian.net. One of the guys at debian-java
reviewed it and I'm going to upload the new version soon, most of the
issues was related to general packaging, not java-specific.

I guess the process for jsword should be very similar.

I'll try to package jsword and upload it to mentors, then we can find
where it's better to maintain it.

Maybe in pkg-crosswire we'll have more people interested in making
jsword available in the repository (the guy helping me out in
debian-java is a sabily developer [a kind of ubuntu islamic edition],
so I won't be surprised if he don't get very interested in jsword :-)
)

I will try to do it and will came back to you when I got something ready.
