Hello everyone!

Small steps again, but now the package is actually up to the point that
it builds and is more or less what you get when building upstream with
the same options. LDAP is disabled because OpenLDAP will need a
transition to this library before we build it with LDAP support. It's a
chicken-and-egg problem which I've described in an earlier post and
which is widely known among Cyrus SASL users. And of course, proper
testing and polishing is completely absent.

I would like you all to check out the package from svn [0] and do a test
build. Then take a look at the resulting packages and either fix things
in SVN (it's open commit season :) or send an email to this list
describing problems that you see. In particular, the new saslauthd init
script probably doesn't work, so patches for that are welcome.

Even nicer would be to already do test builds of other packages against
this library, probably starting with cyrus-imapd and openldap. I'll get
around to that some day, but help is definitely needed there.

Next, I'll be looking at integrating patches for the old package into
our dpatch system. After that we can start discussing what criteria we
want to fulfill before starting to upload to experimental.

Cheers,
