I still don't get it. As far as I can see, all the problems you're descibing
relates to your menu, not to whatever lib is in charge of parsing it. Efreet
merely does what your menu file asks for.
The part of the spec efreet is meant to implement is how to parse the menu, the
meaning of the tags that can be found and what to do with it, not how the menu
itself is structured, which is clearly your issue there. The *only* thing
responsible for including or excluding applications with the Audio or Video
category is the .menu file e17 is using.

Which makes me somewhat curious given the following:
