Yes. The only other differences would be due to different package
versions or a permissions issue of some sort.
It appears that gsymcheck didn't produce any output for any test judging
by the diff output in the build log.

I'm not sure if this would be ok with the buildd operators. I'll have to
ask.

Yes although it doesn't blow away the whole chroot like pbuilder, the
build-deps are uninstalled and the temporary sources deleted.
