that's what I would do. If you not able to maintain this it's logical 
step to kick out 32bit architecture, especially if they are not really 
supported by upstream anymore.
Give a information about the situation in README.Debian and also (in 
short) in the changelog of the upload.

The time of 32bit architecture is coming to an end.
