Thanks for the prompt reply.

I understand the sentiment of the check (preventing spam, etc.) however I think that "'" shouldn't be included as it's a real character that is used in names.

I'm sure my wife's correspondant (Miss O'Brien) would agree :-)

For those wishing to manually fix it, the list of bad characters is in
line 135 - /etc/exim4/conf.d/main/01_exim4-config_listmacrosdefs

We ought to consider that Debian is moving more mainstream and thus to 
less astute administrators (such as myself).
