No, at lest I never configured exim to use it.  In fact, I only use
exim4 listening on the loopback interface for fetchmail's sake and
sending out mail to a smart host.  I append the simple configuration
below.

In the last months, only three times did exim4 crash.  So I am not sure
how to reliably check that anything changes.  I can move
/var/spool/exim4/db/ away and wait for one more moth before reporting.
Would this make sense?
