Hi folks,

due to the amazing OpenSUSE build service, I was able to built PyMVPA RPM
packages for a lot of distributions. Currently there are packages for:

 * Redhat EL 5
 * CentOS 5
 * OpenSUSE 10.2
 * OpenSUSE 10.3
 * OpenSUSE 11.0
 * SLE 10
 * Mandriva 2007
 * Mandriva 2008
 * Fedora 9

each for 32bit and 64bit Intel platforms respectively.

These packages are beta quality and we very much rely on your feedback
whether they work nicely. If you have an OpenSUSE account and want to
work on improving the packages, drop me a note and I can add you as
package maintainer.

In addition to the 'python-mvpa' package there are also 'python-nifti'
and the corresponding 'nifticlibs' packages available. If you would like
to see more of the optional dependencies -- tell me (which ones and which
OS).

If your system supports '1-Click-Install' you can get the packages from
this page (also for manual downloading of the RPMs):

  http://software.opensuse.org/search?baseproject=ALL&p=1&q=python-mvpa

Replace 'python-mvpa' with another package name, or use the search
webpage to find more packages. If you want to include the repository
into your system configuration you probably prefer this URL:

  http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/hankem/

In the future this service will also allow us to run the unittest battery on
a huge range of platforms -- the current 0.3.1 release has a minor bug
that causes the test battery to fail, when the python-nifti packages is
not installed (already fixed in the developer branches).

If the packages work nicely, the download.opensuse.org website will be
the main source for PyMVPA binaries for RPM-based systems.

Cheers,

Michael
