Hey Lee,

   I wrote a small section on our wiki awhile back on how to convert 
between imaging formats (with pymvpa in mind):

    As far as I could figure out, the only decent converter for 
spm2/spm5 img/hdr to NIFTI is fsl. None of the matlab scripts floating 
around we're up to the job. You'll either need a local install of fsl, 
or you can use the one on the dbic network.
