I'm still on numpy < 1.5 here -- maybe that causes isssues.

I'd strongly recommend you to upgrade to the latest pynifti version. A
number of bugfixes are missing in your version.

Since you are building from source, please get the latest snapshot of
the 0.4 series maintenance branch:


That one will spare you same hassles.
