[pymvpa] 64-bit PyMVPA or help with large datasets?

are you using 32bit or 64bit NeuroDebian VM?  just use 64bit, give it
more memory and be happy:  apt-get install python-mvpa2 would install
64bit build since the entire Debian system will be 64bit build ;-)

alternative/complimentary, if you are loading .nii.gz files (wasn't
disclosed) -- you might also try to uncompress them, and construct
dataset from .nii instead of .nii.gz .  At least for the moment they are
'original', i.e. not yet masked, nibabel would memmap them instead of
loading into memory from the compressed .gz.
