The package is team-maintained, so strictly speaking there is no 
individual maintainer for it. There is one person listed as Uploader, 
who did the initial upload two years ago, then came two team uploads 
by bubulle and pabs and then another team upload in which the source 
was updated by someone who is not listed as an Uploader, either.

So, I'd say it's perfectly alright to upgrade the package and chance 
the packaging if we have found an team-internal consensus, which - I 
believe - we are making good progress in. Furthermore, I'd say anybody 
seriously interested in the fonts-droid package is expected to be 
subscribed to the pkg-fonts team's list anyway (because the team is 
listed as maintainer). However, I have added Jon Severinsson in CC, 
because he is the last one who has seriously updated the package.
