Well, my suggestion now would be moving/copying the packaging git tree
on alioth, under /git/pkg-fonts. Then one of us with upload rights may
do the final checks on the package then upload it.

Still, it would be good to be sure there's someone who closely cares
for the package (follow bugs, upstream, etc.) which is something you
can continue doing if you're motivated for this, Rüdiger. I would then
recommend subscribing to the mailing list.
