wow, this sounds bad! o_O
Which program did you use when you saw that issue? I have not yet been
able to reproduce it, neither with libreofice-writer nor with
pango-view. Could you please install the libpango1.0-dev package and
confirm that the issue occurs (or not) when you call
pango-view --text="Waffle" --font="dejavu sans" --waterfall
or any other text string containing ligatures and also "dejavu sans
bold" and the other flavors?
The fontconfig files have remained unchanged since the 2.34 release, si
I have really no idea what could cause the issue for you but not for me.
