I've discovered this game a couple of days ago:
http://fightwinprevail.sourceforge.net/
http://www.happypenguin.org/show?Fight%20Win%20Prevail
The game compiles successfully, provided that the following dependencies are
met (all of them already in Debian):
libogre-dev, libcegui-mk2-dev, libode0-dev, libsdl1.2-dev, libsdl-net1.2-dev,
libsdl-mixer1.2-dev
According to the README file, you find that:
FWP Copyright 2004-2006 The FWP-Team
FWP is free software. Basically you may use it for any purpose as long as you
don't blame us for any damages incurred, and you may freely distribute it
UNMODIFIED on any media. See file COPYING for details.
Going afterwards to COPYING:
FWP is free software. The source code (./src) is published under the ZLIB
license (see below). Most of the game media (./data) were created by the FWP
team and are covered by this license, too. However, some of the media files
included in the game were created by external contributers and have individual
copyrights and licenses. In this case a readme file explaining the individual
licensing terms can be found in the same folder.
The ZLIB License says:
Copyright (c) 2004-2006 The FWP Team
This software is provided 'as-is', without any express or implied warranty. In
no event will the authors be held liable for any damages arising from the use
ofthis software.
Permission is granted to anyone to use this software for any purpose,
including
commercial applications, and to alter it and redistribute it freely, subject
to
the following restrictions
1. The origin of this software must not be misrepresented; you must not claim
that you wrote the original software. If you use this software in a product,
an acknowledgment in the product documentation would be appreciated but is not
required.
2. Altered source versions must be plainly marked as such, and must not be
misrepresented as being the original software.
3. This notice may not be removed or altered from any source distribution.
According to this, most of the game is GPL. I've had a quick look at the game
data and it seems we would have to replace a couple of fonts at least (A
couple of Larabie Fonts).
The only file in data/ that seems to include the words "license", "licence" or
"copyright" is data/gui/scheme/readme_astronbo.html
I guess this might be a nice game to package. I've already created the
skeleton for it, and it compiles without problem. Anyone interested?
