It also fails with the version of unshield in Jessie (oldstable).
I'm extremely puzzled... As can be seen from this forum post of mine:

I not only successfully extracted the files using the provided commands but
also started identifying some bugs in vcmi when working with files from within
the cab.
I even noted down the md5sum of the h3demo.exe I used which seems to be the
exact same that is downloadable now.
Is there another software called "unshield" in Debian that I might've used
accidentally?
