Could you copy and paste Nestopia’s output when you run it? It should look
something like

0 joystick(s) found:
OpenGL: 4.5 (Core Profile) Mesa 17.3.3
Database: 2901 items imported from internal DB
Fds: BIOS not found: /home/steve/.nestopia/disksys.rom
Ines: 512k PRG-ROM set
Ines: 256k CHR-ROM set
Ines: horizontal mirroring set
Ines: NTSC set
Ines: mapper 5 set
Board: EKROM
Board: 512k PRG-ROM
Board: 256k CHR-ROM
Board: 8k auto W-RAM
Region: NTSC
Audio: libao - 44100Hz, 16-bit, 1 channel(s)
Port 1: Standard Pad
Port 2: Standard Pad

That will provide a number of useful pieces of information.

Also, could you try installing the Nestopia 1.47 package from Stretch, and
report if that fixes things? That will help determine whether it’s a Nestopia
regression, or something caused by one of its dependencies...

Thanks,

Stephen
