I'm on that problem. But like you I also got a normal day job need and
need to get some free time for the needed preparations. It's not done in
some minutes.

Simply as this isn't prepared yet. And as we first want to get the
packages into the next Debian release we put our energy there. Once the
packages got tested enough we will take time to prepare a so called
backport.

The workflow is more or less the same like now. One difference, use a
jessie [+jessie-backports] chroot for building and fixing build issues.

Sure, understandable. But we are not on that step yet.
You can try to create package for a Jessie system. But this needs at
least some skills about packaging. But the way starts with a first step. :)
