I understand that and I've seen the timeline on kopanocore that happen
till 8.7.5.

Exactly, for now I'd say the release manager wont give their agreement
on introducing such an version bump, even if this is just the micro
number that is increased because they have a look at the changes to the
source and this is quite a big change from 8.7.0 which nobody can
seriously can review.
There are only a few exceptions from this rule from the SRM (Stable
Release Manager) such as typically the web browsers Chromium and Firefox
ans sometimes also some crypto libraries if I remember right.
In the long run (stable release is about two years plus one more year
with security support, makes three years!) I suspect we or better the
user and you will find more critical issues we need to tackle with.
