I've this problem sometimes. I'm not sure, but I've the feeling that
metacity crash (the windows' borders seems to be turned off and be
redrawn after that). 
BTW I've no solution for the moment, perhaps 2.6.3 solves this problem,
I'll try to have the package uploaded this week-end.
