I've been getting some reports of the system tray applet in GNOME
spinning (lots of people use this to use my Gaim system tray icon, so
they complain to me first =). I asked the GTK guys about it and
apparently it's a known problem with a fairly trivial fix. See this bug
in bugzilla, which has the one-line fix:

It'd be nice if you could apply this to the debian packages until it
comes out in an upstream release.
