Hi,
In fact, this occurs when notification area applet is used together with the multimedia keys daemon acme. Each are eating 20 to 25% of a K6-2 500MHz.
If I suppress the applet, acme does not sucks cpu.
If I suppress acme, the notification area (empty) does not eats too much cpu.
If I restart manually first the applet then acme, all went fine.
If then I restart gnome, then both are eating half the cpu power
I've not found any way for profiling this problem.
