Package: gnome-core
Version: 1.0.55-2
Severity: grave
I just upgraded to the newest gnome in the testing release. As is customary,
all my preferences got hosed. I'm really tired of this, it's as if there is
some persistent carelessness that doesn't bother to make sure it will work.
PLEASE don't install gnome package upgrades without testing to make sure that
all user preferences are correctly tracked from the previous version.

Coin,
As GNOME 2 is a major change, it is obvious many components have
deeply modified their configuration.
GNOME authors decided not to care about transition and closed the
forwarded bug.
As it is rather difficult to take care of this ourselves (maintainers),
and as it is rather old, i'm closing this bug and we would take care of
this for future release.
Btw, i did not loose any parameter when switching from 2.4 to 2.6 and we
got no such report so far.
