Package: ssh-askpass-gnome
Version: 1:3.6.1p2-9
Severity: grave
Tags: sid
Justification: renders package unusable

Earlier versions provided a prompt (a dialog box) during gnome
initialization; this version does not. I have a terminal (login) in my
session, and keyring, so things get initialized properly, but I could
uninstall ssh-askpass-gnome with no change, since it isn't doing anything at
all. Without the prompt, the package adds no value.

It is possible that the Xsession or Xsession.d scripts in the more recent
versions of gnome have made this change instead. Since I didn't think to
'grep ssh /etc/X11/Xsession /etc/X11/Xsession.d/*' until it stopped working,
I haven't a clue.

gdm 2.4.1.6-1's Gnome session script tried to more closely follow what
the Debian Xsession does, by implementing the use-ssh-agent check.

gdm 2.4.4.7-1 and higher actually use the Debian Xsession scripts, so that
every way of starting X handles things in the same way.

ssh-agent is only started by the Debian Xsession if use-ssh-agent is
present in Xsession.options(5) (which it is by default).
