Subject: Please use gcrypt11/gnutls11 instead of gcrypt1/gnutls7, if possible
Package: gnome-network
Severity: important

'gnome-network' depends on gcrypt1 or gnutls7.

These packages are old, no longer supported by Upstream, and contain
serious deficiencies / bugs. See [0] and followup emails, and [1] for
further details.
(These are about gcrypt7 and gnutls10, but the same reasoning applies.)

Therefore, we want to get rid of gcrypt1 and gnutls7 in Sarge, if possible.

Please check whether you can easily replace those libraries in your package.
Thank you.

NB: If gnome-network doesn't itself build-depend on gcrypt1 or gnutls7,
you can fix the problem by either updating your package's copy of
libtool (best), or build-depending on newer versions of those libraries
which pull in the dependency on gcrypt1 or gnutls7 (acceptable).

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the effort in reporting bugs on gnome-network. For the time
being, however, active development on gnome-network has ceased and the
upstream team has now decided to continue releasing separate modules
instead of a single suite, therefore I made the decision to have
gnome-network removed from Debian.

Currently, the only item of the suite to have been released and packaged
for unstable is gnome-nettool. The functionality provided by the
gnome-remote-desktop application can still be found in its predecessor:
tsclient.

Yours sincerely,
Andrew "Netsnipe" Lau
