 I don't see your argument, could you explain why it is a problem to
 have gnome-panel depend on the libraries you quoted?  This was done to
 integrate the clock applet with evolution-data-server (see
 <http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=272061>).  Are you
 alluding to Mono with "Microsoft .NET"?  What is wrong with it?
