Ok, I do
totem-video-thumbnailer file.mpg file.png
or
totem-video-thumbnailer file.mpg file.jpg
the resulting file is about 26K. If I do
/usr/lib/nautilus/gst-thumbnail file.mpg file.png
gst-thumbnail throws out these lines
format index is 3
format index is 0
using index 2

and the resulting file is 160K size.
