Severity: wishlist
This is an anti-bug to #205888
I have audiosink set to "esdsink" because when set to "osssink" I get
the error "osscommon: Unable to open /dev/dsp (in use ?)". Assumedly
esd has that open.
However if I set it to esdsink, rhythmbox refuses to start with the error
"Rhythmbox does not currently work if GNOME sound events are enabled and
esdsink is in use."
If I set audiosink to "osdsink" or event_sounds to "false", start
rhythmbox, then *set it back again* -- it works fine. I can't
reproduce the above bug.
So basically what I'm saying here is that there's no need for that
error message on my system, in fact that error message is specifically
unhelpful because I have to choose between sound events and music
when I don't.
Did someone fix esd? Is osdsink really supposed to not work when esd
is running? Why am I reporting bugs at 5am? :-)

Hey,
This problem is fixed in rhythmbox 0.8, now you can enjoy sound events
AND rhythmbox :).
Cheers,
