Hi,

I am the maintainer of the gnome2.2 backport for debian woody and use
your gtk2 packages. Today I got a bugreport from someone who hadn't
upgraded the backport in a while and had this with 'apt-get
dist-upgrade':

Setting up gucharmap (1.0.0-1jds2) ...
gtk-query-immodules-2.0: error while loading shared libraries:
libXrender.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing gucharmap (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127
Errors were encountered while processing:
 gucharmap
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

What happened is that xlibs got upgraded at the same time as gucharmap,
resulting in gtk-query-immodules-2.0 (which gucharmap uses in it's
postinst script) not being able to find libXrender.so.1. I solved this
by adding a Pre-Depends to libgtk2.0-common on xlibs >= 4.2.1-12.1jds2
(the one in my backport).

I am sending this to you with the assumption that your users may
encounter a similar problem.

Thanks,

Jamie Strandboge

I doubt it happens on sarge/sid. libgtk2.0-common depends on
libxrender1. it's enough to work postinst correctly.
