Alright, the bug is fixed in libgnomevfs2-0 2.8.3-1. Everyone
that has been hit by it needs to force mozilla to update its
plugin registry after upgrading libgnomevfs by either

- removing pluginreg.dat from ~/.mozilla or ~/.firefox or
  ~/.mozilla/firefox or wherever it is.
- or reinstalling mozilla-bonobo so that the timestamp of
  the plugin binary gets touched.

I guess this bug report can be closed now.
