Right.  I started to suspect that.

Wow.  I did conference calls in 1995 using half duplex audio devices
and sdr/vic/vat (MBone/multicast-tools), and was not aware that this
was technically impossible.  I really impress myself when I now know I
participated in a miracle.

But at least now I know what the problem is.  I can't change the sound
device in my laptop, so I will have to look for other solutions.
