 You're using "totem-xine" which relies on libxine1 to do such things as
 output to an alsa driver.

 I have no idea wether libxine also reads .xine, but you can try
 "audio.speaker_arrangement:Pass Through" in .xine/config.  If that
 doens't work with totem-xine, please try with xine alone.
