Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 2.1.0-2
Severity: important
Ever since upgrading to gnome-terminal 2.0, I've noticed gnome-terminal
keeps consuming more and more memory until it's eventually killed by the
kernel's OOM killer.
For example, my current gnome-terminal process looks like:
dilinger 4147 16.5 54.3 286908 281024 ? R 13:16 17:47
/usr/bin/gnome-terminal
This has been running for about 2 hours, with 2 gnome terminal windows
open (4 tabs open in the first, 2 tabs open in the second). After
closing a tab, memory usage is not reduced; it increases. I suspect a
leak somewhere; when I have the time, I'll run gnome-terminal through
valgrind and see if I can figure out what's going on. It may also be
related to the theme I'm using (gtk2-engines-thinice-2.0.1-1.1), although
other programs using gtk2 don't seem to have this problem
(galeon-snapshot, pan, and so on).

Looks like upstream has closed this bug, and I'm certainly not seeing
this behavior anymore from gnome-terminal (it might still not free
memory when a tab/terminal is closed, but i haven't noticed problems w/
it consuming all my memory)
