severity 231915 serious
thanks
Jordi,
I think this bug warrants severity: serious, because gnome-common fails
to declare dependencies on those tools needed to make it useful in the
common case. To be precise, depending on automake1.7 | automaken when
automake1.7 is not *used* by default by the package causes build
failures such as bug #206921 in gal. So long as the default behavior of
gnome-autogen.sh is to fail if it can't find automake1.4, I think this
is the package that needs to be listed explicitly in the dependencies.
For that matter, the fact that it doesn't work with automake >=3D 1.8
means that the dependency is not strictly satisfied by the 'automaken'
virtual package. A dependency on automake1.4 | automake1.7 | automake1.6
seems better here (with or without patches to try newer alternatives).
Cheers,
