Hello,

I have seen that while the session is running, gdm is still consuming
about 17Mb memory. But it is not doing anything but waiting for the
session to finish.

Couldn't anything be done to avoid such a waste for small systems?

Suggestion: Refactor the graphical part (using lots of libs) out from
the waiting process.

I do not know if that is feasible, but if possible it would be nice.

Yours,

Antonio Fiol

What are you using to determine that 17MB of memory is in use? GDM uses
several shared libraries, that will show up in its "use", but these shared
libraries are only mapped into memory once, and most gnome binaries will use
them, so it doesn't really cost anything.

> I do not know if that is feasible, but if possible it would be nice.

As shared libraries are shared amongst the system, I don't see it being a win
unless you aren't using any other gnome applications.
