 This was not a bug in gedit but in "gtkam", please see bugs:
    #262123, #264841, #269810, #269892, #270866, #271133
 for more details on this bug.

 This bug is fixed in gtkam from the 28 Sep 2004, hence I'm closing the
 bug.
