Bug#259198: gedit `open' starts from /home instead of $HOME

 This is a followup for Debian bug <http://bugs.debian.org/259198>.

 I could not reproduce this with gedit 2.8.2-1, could you please try the
 newest version?

 If you still get the bug, could you please give me the output of:
 echo $HOME
 echo $USER
 getent passwd $USER

 Are you using NIS or LDAP?

 How are you running gedit?  Command-line?  from the GNOME menu?

PS: please use the reportbug utility to report bugs, as it prints
versions of packages gedit depends on, thanks!
