Package: gnome-desktop-environment
Severity: wishlist

  gnome-desktop-environment has (via gnome-volume-manager) a hard dependenc=
y=20
on udev. As I understand it, this is only strictly necessary if you want=20
hotplugged devices and inserted CDs to be automatically detected.

  Given that udev has had a lot of annoying bugs and incompatibilities in t=
he=20
past that broke other parts of the system badly, it would be nice if it wer=
e=20
possible to remove it while keeping the rest of Gnome on the system -- in=20
other words, it would be nice if the dependency on gnome-volume-manager cou=
ld=20
be reduced to a recommendation.

  Daniel
