I have finally check the callback.c you attached and it has the
requested fix (in the 2.8 branch).

Great !

A last comment. Should the bug stay opened for sarge ? I have checked
2.8.1-2 and it does not have the fix ... though it does not look like a
security issue so could it ever go in a the stable releases ?=20


PS: this make me wonder if tons of bugs which where kept opened against
woody should be closed . Well they should now that sarge is the stable
release, though shouldn't have they been closed even before as the fix
would never be applied to a stable release ?
I help to triage xfree bugs and it would clean clean the bts quite a
lot ...
