 Somehow, your mail was completely screwed up when I received it.  I
 reattach the scrollkeeper_cl.xml file I deciphered for other readers.

 Actaully, the fakeroot part is there so you can run this as a normal
 user.  I think it interfered, you might want to try that again as
 non-root.

 That's wicked, it looks like a file was screwed there too (but it might
 a "timestamp screw", and this might be a consequence of your system
 having a wrong date or the command being run as root, I can't tell).

 Now the bad news is that I can't reproduce your problem with your
 broken scrollkeeper_cl.xml.
 (I copied your file to /var/scrollkeeper/C/scrollkeeper_cl.xml, touched
 /usr/share/omf/bug-buddy/bug-buddy-C.omf -- whatever file scrollkeeper
 checks for updates -- and ran scrollkeeper-update, I confirmed with
 strace that /var/scrollkeeper/C/scrollkeeper_cl.xml was opened.)

 I think there's some hardware problem on your host, or FS corruption
 maybe.  Do your system logs say a bit more?
