Thanks for sending so many details, but things as "it doesn't work"
aren't helpdul.

Could you attach the whole gconfd cruft output in your syslog from boot
to the moment you sent your bug report?
More importantly, I need the dpkg log (/var/log/dpkg.log) of your
upgrades.
