Bug#330928: pango1.0: debconf questions are unnecessary

Package: pango1.0
Severity: wishlist

Just another one :)

Please rethink if the questions you ask via debconf are necessary. Each
question takes the users time to read and also adds complexitivy and
necessary translations.

Let's look at the questions :-)

"Do you want to entrust font management to defoma?"
AFAICT all other font packages simply use defoma. What is so special
about pango, that it cannot also simply use defoma.

"Your old pangox.aliases file has been saved as
/etc/pango/pangox.aliases-old."
AFAICT all packages backup files with *.dpkg-old or something similar.
Other packages don't tell users about this, as they know.

"/etc/pango/pangox.aliases was not found. Now update-pangox-aliases will
"
"generate a default pangox.aliases. You may modify the generated file to
be "
"suitable for your needs."

That's the same as with the first debconf Q. I think pango1.0 should
simply use defoma.

I am not a maintainer, but I translate quite a few debconf messages and
yours seems pretty much unnessary to me.

Keep up the good work :-)
